bondi fragrance notes: mandarin, watery ozone and musk

Bondi scent guide: kirri's lightest, freshest iconic scent

The Bondi scent is fresh and coastal: mandarin and watery ozone up top, green cardamom and black pepper in the middle, soft musk underneath. Rated 1 out of 5, it's the lightest scent in the kirri range.

Bondi was called Miami until our rename. Same oil, now with a name closer to home.

Why choose a 1 out of 5 scent?

Not every room needs a strong fragrance. Bondi is for people who want a space to smell fresh without anyone asking "what's that?" as they walk in.

  • Small rooms: bedrooms, studies and walk-in robes, where stronger scents can crowd you
  • New to diffusers: a gentle place to start if you're unsure how much scent you like
  • Shared walls: apartments and townhouses, where scent drifts between rooms

Expect to notice Bondi near the diffuser rather than from across the house. It won't carry down a hallway.

Getting more from a light scent

Love Bondi but want more of it? You have options.

  • Use every reed: and flip them once a week
  • Find moving air: near a doorway or a window that's often open, not tucked in a corner
  • Go electric: in an Element or Beacon you can raise the intensity from delicate to radiant or intense in the kirri app
  • Add a spray: a few spritzes of the Bondi room spray (50ml) before guests arrive

More placement tips are in how to make your house smell nice.

What Bondi smells like

Mandarin is the first note, juicy and a little sweet. Watery ozone arrives with it, the clean, cool air of an early walk along the coast. Green cardamom adds a fresh spice. Black pepper gives a dry edge, so the scent doesn't stay purely citrus. Soft musk is what's left in the room later.

Up close, you'll pick out the cardamom and pepper. From the other side of the room, Bondi reads mostly as mandarin and fresh air.

Rooms and seasons

Bondi is a summer scent, best from November to March, but its lightness means it rarely feels out of season. It suits bedrooms, bathrooms and home offices all year.

In a big open-plan living room, a 1/5 reed diffuser on its own will feel faint. Run Bondi in a Beacon there, or choose a stronger scent for that space.

Bondi formats

Bondi isn't made as a candle. Traditional refills are for passive diffusers only, and should never go into an electric one.

The 100ml traditional refill also fits the kirri car diffuser. A light scent makes sense in a small, closed space like a car, so Bondi is a good one to try there.

Scents to try next

  • Coral: the next step up at 2/5, still fresh and coastal
  • Zen Garden: watery florals with real reach at 4/5, good for a bathroom
  • Kiwi Coconut Vanilla: a fruitier summer scent for the kitchen

Bondi FAQ

Why can't I smell my Bondi reed diffuser?

Bondi is our lightest scent, so it's meant to be subtle. Use all the reeds, flip them weekly and move the diffuser into moving air. Our reed diffuser care guide has more fixes.

Does Bondi smell like the beach?

It smells like coastal air rather than sunscreen or salt water: citrus, ozone and a little spice.

Is there a Bondi candle?

Not at the moment. Bondi comes as reed diffusers, refills, electric diffuser oils and sprays.
