For a large house, the Beacon is the kirri diffuser to start with. It covers up to 300sqm, plugs in at the wall and takes a 100ml Aura Oil that typically lasts 6 to 12 months, while the Element is made for single rooms.
The Pillar and Micro fill the gaps either side. Here's how all four compare, and how to put them together in a bigger home.
The short answer
- Beacon: large homes and open-plan living, up to 300sqm
- Pillar: floor-standing, for larger rooms and open-plan spaces
- Element: single rooms, rechargeable
- Micro: small spaces
Beacon: for large and open-plan homes
The Beacon is our table-top smart diffuser. It's waterless: the oil bottle screws straight in and it releases a fine scent mist with no heat and no water.
- Coverage: up to 300sqm
- Oil: Aura Oil (100ml), typically 6 to 12 months, or Macro Oil (30ml), 2 to 6 months, with the short probe in the box
- Power: plugs in at the wall, no battery
- Control: intensity and scheduling in the kirri app
Element: for single rooms
The Element is made from clay ceramic and metal, and measures 95mm x 195mm. It takes a 15ml bottle, so it suits one room rather than a whole floor. We suggest leaving it plugged in and running in one spot, with the battery there when you want it.
- Oil: Micro Oil (15ml), typically 1 to 3 months per bottle
- Power: rechargeable, about 6 hours to charge
- Battery life: about 12 hours on low and 8 on high. It also runs plugged in
- Control: the same four intensity levels and scheduling in the kirri app
Pillar: floor-standing for big rooms
The Pillar stands on the floor and is sized for larger rooms and open-plan living. Like the Beacon, it plugs in at the wall and takes Aura Oil (100ml) or Macro Oil (30ml). A 100ml bottle typically lasts 6 to 12 months. Choose it over the Beacon when you'd rather not give up a benchtop or side table.
Micro: for small spaces
The new Micro Diffuser is waterless and app-controlled, and takes the same Micro Oil (15ml) as the Element. A bottle typically lasts 1 to 3 months. It's a good fit for a study, an ensuite or a walk-in robe.
How the intensity levels work
Every kirri smart diffuser uses the same settings in the app. Each one mists, then pauses for 120 seconds.
- Delicate: 6 seconds on. Start here
- Subtle: 12 seconds on
- Radiant: 18 seconds on
- Intense: 24 seconds on, or set a custom level
How long a bottle lasts depends on the intensity you pick and how many hours it runs each day.
Setting up a large house
- Main living area: a Beacon on a side table, or a Pillar if floor space suits better.
- Closed-off rooms: an Element or Micro, so each room has its own scent.
- One scent or several: run the same scent through the house, or choose one per room with our scent-matching guide.
- Settings: start each diffuser on delicate, then adjust room by room in the app. For placement, see where to place an electric diffuser.
